Hard to believe it is May. It sure has been a cool start to the month. I was wondering if April showers bring May flowers, what does May showers bring? Probably June bugs. Let me get "off" that subject before I get swarmed by some stinging comments. I wonder how the mosquito survived in the Garden of Eden before Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit? Did Noah take two mosqitos on board and did Mrs. Noah have to bring some repellant? All I know is that God created everything and He said "It was good." Then when He created us in His own image He said, "Behold it was very good". Perhaps we need to contact Ken Ham at Answers from Genesis. (To be continued...)
Went by to wish Mrs. Mary Whatley a Happy Birthday. I always receive a blessing when I visit her. She asked me how I was doing and how did my medical tests go. I told her everything was OK and she said, "I'm praying for you." I know she does pray for everyone. I told Ms Mary we were having revival services this week. She told me about how she would attend revival meetings as a child and has always enjoyed going. She would be praying for the church revival.
We have started Son Shiner Spring lunch and study on Wednesdays at noon. We are doing Max Lucados book 3:16 Numbers of Hope. We enjoy the fellowship and learn from each others insights. Anyone is welcome to attend and we are meeting in the worship center kitchen.
Son Shiners are planning a trip to "Little Switzerland"(NC) on May 18. This town was named by summer visitors who said it look like the Swiss Alps.
My Hope America with Billy Graham training will be held on Wednesday May 15-June 5. I appreciate all the help and encouragement from the BGEA. Please remember this training in prayer. We are having a great revival week with Rev. Mike Bearden. The Lord Has been speaking to the church each evening through His servant.
I am thankful to the Lord for His presence and strength. I will be having some lab work done on May 24. I did not have the bone marrow test. When they took blood test just before the procedure the lab tech said I didn't need it and I got to go home and relax, had already taken "Med" to help me relax through procedure. I don't understand what's happening but as I often say in life situations, I know the Lord who does understand. Proverbs 3:5 tells us not to lean on our own understadning. We are to trust the Lord and He will guide us on the right paths.
It is almost lunch time so I better close. Would enjoy hearing from you. (ghill47@embarqmail.com) Just give me a buzz.
From George’s Desk—I'm back...although I haven't really been gone. Started to write about 30 minutes ago and guess I started getting long-winded and before I knew it, everything had vanished away. Guess I better Keep It Short and Sweet.
So much has happened since October writing. Lee's Mama went to be with her Lord on October 28. She had faithfully served her Lord for 85 years. Mama had shared that she was a teenager when she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and had been baptized in the creek behind her church. She was born in 1912 and fifteen years later would have been 1927. What a blessing for me to know and love my mother-in-law. I shared in her Celebration service how Peter and I had something in common, we both had wonderful mother-in-laws.
The Christmas season at EBC began with the "Hanging of the Greens". It was a very special service that focused on the real meaning of Christmas. The Son Shiners enjoyed the trip to see Lights of Hope in Anderson, SC. We visited Santa's Workshop and I thought I would never actually see "Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"(I sang that song in a Kindergarten Christmas program) but I did! We have some pictures to prove it.
It was a special blessing when the EBC choir sang our Christmas musical at Emerald Gardens and Wesley Commons.
Hard to believe 2013 is 16 days old. I started this yesterday and tried to finish. Didn't quite make it. We had a good Winter Fellowship lunch yesterday with 10 present. We are studying Billy Graham's book, Nearing Home. Dr. Graham's words are encouraging to me. They were espcially so today, after meeting for a Neurology Consult and scheduled for a nerve study, Sleep Test, MRI and Ultra Sound.... I am reminded of the song "This Old House" (Can't remember who sang it...I think Tennesse Ernie Ford?) Seriously, Chapter 1 of Nearing Home begins with Psalm 90:12 , Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Something we need to do each day. And when we do, "Every day with Jesus will be sweeter than the day before." (I hope you are singing the chorus with me)
Better close for now. God bless. Look forward to hearing from you.
